    Anne Arundel Dermatology may have the job for you! We are currently hiring for a Surgical Technologist. This position will be working alongside some of the leading Mohs Micrographic Surgeons in the area.

    Responsibilities

    • Guide patients to exam/procedure room. Assist patients as needed with walking, preparing for exam, etc. Collect patient information/history; taking vitals, performing screenings per provider guidelines.
    • Prepare procedure rooms and surgical trays with all supplies needed for procedures.
    • Maintain strict confidentiality related to medical records and other data. Comply with all company policies and procedures
    • Complete pre-operative intake via one-on-one interview, explain surgical procedures, and answer any questions within your scope.
    • Prepare paperwork for patient’s current visit and ensure complete and accurate documentation within the patient’s electronic medical record
    • Drape and disinfect surgical site, administer local anesthesia, and use a handheld cautery device to achieve hemostasis
    • Assist physician during all procedures (passing instruments, blotting, cutting sutures, etc)
    • Bandage surgical sites, prepare proper discharge paperwork, review wound care instructions with patient, and answer any questions or concerns they may have
    • Clean and prepare instruments for terminal sterilization in an autoclave
    • Collect and accurately process specimens
    • Contribute to keeping the clinical area clean and orderly to ensure a safe work environment and maintain efficiency

    Qualifications

     

    • BA/BS degree in Biology, Pre-Med or closely related field highly preferred
    • Successful completion of Medical Assistant program or equivalent hospital program preferred
    • 2+ years’ experience as a Medical Assistant in a clinical environment and/or prior experience as a Scribe preferred. 
    • Must have reliable transportation and willingness/ability to travel to various surgery centers located in Maryland and Virginia

    Licensure/Certifications/Education

    • Medical Assistant Certification is preferred
    • BA/BS degree in Biology, Pre-Med or closely related field highly preferred
    • Dermtech course is required but provided by employer
