Schedule: Monday through Friday 7a-4p.
Pay: $16-$25/hour, depending on experience.
This position will work with our Mohs Surgeons and other providers assisting during surgery as well as in the clinic for post-surgical follow up appointments.
Escort patients to the procedure room. Assist patients as needed with walking, preparing for exam, etc
Complete pre-operative intake via one-on-one interview, explain surgical procedures, and answer any questions within your scope
Prepare procedure rooms and surgical trays with all supplies needed for procedures
Organize patient flow according to protocol
Prepare syringes according to protocol
Drape and disinfect surgical site, administer local anesthesia, and use a handheld cautery device to achieve hemostasis
Prepare paperwork for patient’s current visit and ensure complete and accurate documentation within the patient’s electronic medical record
Maintain strict confidentiality related to medical records and other data in compliance with all company policies and procedures
Assist physician during all procedures, including but not limited to passing instruments, blotting, cutting sutures and bandaging of surgical site.
Bandage surgical sites, prepare proper discharge paperwork, review wound care instructions with patient, and answer any questions or concerns they may have
Clean and prepare instruments for terminal sterilization in an autoclave
Prepare pathology and lab specimens. Route to correct lab as required by patient’s insurance. Maintain accurate pathology log.
Remove sutures.
Notify patients of pathology and lab results.
Respond to patient questions in office and on phone as instructed.
Schedule or re-schedule appointments with providers, specialists as necessary. Send appropriate records as necessary.
Work in compliance with OSHA, bloodborne pathogen standards.
Knowledge of and compliance with HIPAA standards.
Document and keep current appropriate records for maintenance programs.
Maintain medication samples, discard out-of-date supplies, and keep appropriate records.
Maintain infection control. Maintain cleanliness of exam rooms, and keep supply cabinets well stocked.
Document all medical instructions given to patients.
At least 1 year of recent experience as a Surgical Assistant, Medical Assistant, Certified Nursing Assistant, Medical Scribe or other clinically based patient care experience preferred but willing to train the right motivated candidate
Completion of a Medical Assistant, Certified Nursing Assistant, Surgical Tech program, Medical Scribe Certification or college graduate is preferred but not required
An ability to work independently, excellent communications skills, organizational skills and flexibility required
Experience utilizing EMA electronic records software is a plus
Must be able to lift at least 15 pounds, stand for prolonged periods
