It is important that the Cosmetic Medical Assistant is cheerful, friendly, polite, tactful, and professional in appearance and manner at all times. They must have an awareness of all office financial policies, participating insurance companies, requirements of those insurance companies, especially referrals, and aware of all scheduling rules for each provider. This individual works closely with the Cosmetics Provider(s), as well as the Cosmetic Coordinator to support gathering patient information, assembling charts, and maintaining the smooth flow of charts to the clinical areas of the office. The individual is very hands on in terms of working with the Provider, Patients, and involvement in and out of the exam room. The successful Cosmetic Medical Assistant must be a team player and respectful of their co-workers.
Other responsibilities include patient education on treatment plans, having proper inventory and appropriate levels of samples, as well as forms printed up to and including: consents and at home care, and provider assistant traits, such as suture removal, dressing changes, and knowledge of insurance based procedures and completion of pathology and lab requisition documents.
