Responsibilities

The Laboratory Director is responsible for the overall operation and administration of the laboratory, effectively establishing a shared vision and strategic plan for success.

 

Duties/Responsibilities: 

  • Facilitates the execution of strategies for continual development and improvement initiatives to expand and strengthen the laboratory’s position in the market place 
  • Drives and maintains strong relationships with internal and external clinical providers and groups to support business operations, financial profitability, and resource management.  
  • Documents and analyzes progress, tracking of deliverables and identifying cross-functional accountability. 
  • Maintains and provides in-depth knowledge of laboratory activity.  
  • Ensures the highest standard of pathology processing services are maintained.   
  • Provides oversight and management for all laboratory and testing service functions, equipment, and vendor relationships. 
  • Manages relationships for collaboration with cross-functional partners to ensure shared success. 
  • Maintains laboratory standards and ensures compliance across all channels. 
  • Other duties assigned as deemed necessary by management. 

Qualifications

Required Skills/Abilities: 

  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Excellent interpersonal, customer service and leadership skills. 
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. 
  • Professional level knowledge of business administration and laboratory operations. 
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software. 

Licensure/Certifications/Education

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration or similar related field.
  • Certified Histotech preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of related experience required.
  • Prior experience in the healthcare or pathology industry is highly desired.
