Job Summary: The Assistant Controller will play a crucial role in supporting the Controller with the preparation of financial statements, budgeting, audits, and internal controls. This role is primarily focused on ensuring accurate execution of accounting processes and compliance activities, while providing operational support to the Controller and senior leadership. The Assistant Controller is ideal for a finance professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys mentoring a team.


Hybrid position: Mon-Wed in office

Salary range: $120-140k, plus annual annual bonus incentive 

Responsibilities

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Manage and mentor the accounting team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Lead month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis.
  • Support accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with GAAP, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Assist with compliance efforts by preparing documentation and ensuring accounting practices follow GAAP and regulatory standards.
  • Oversee accuracy of general ledger postings, daily cash activities, and reconciliations to maintain timely and reliable financial data.
  • Continuously improve financial processes and systems for efficiency and accuracy, with a focus on reducing the close timeline.
  • Support the annual financial audit and annual tax filings, including preparing schedules and performing research.
  • Support the annual budgeting process in collaboration with the FP&A team.
  • Other duties assigned as deemed necessary by management.

Qualifications

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability and desire to work as part of a high-performing team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey financial information clearly to diverse audiences.
  • In-depth knowledge of financial regulations, accounting standards, and tax laws.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • High ethical standards and integrity, ensuring financial practices align with legal and professional standards.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office (especially Excel) and accounting software (preferably NetSuite); knowledge of data processing and business intelligence tools a plus.
  • Well-organized with the ability to prioritize.
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
  • Strong critical thinking and analytical capability.

 

Licensure/Certifications/Education

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
  • Valid CPA certification (strongly preferred).
  • 5+ years of experience in accounting or finance field.
  • 2+ years of experience managing a team.
  • Healthcare experience (preferred).

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
