Medical Assistant - PRN | Tampa Bay Area

Academic Alliance in Dermatology is hiring a PRN Medical Assistant to support providers across multiple clinic locations in the Tampa Bay area. This is a flexible, as-needed position ideal for someone looking to gain hands-on experience in both medical and cosmetic dermatology.

Details About the Role:

Typical coverage: Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays (8:00 AM - 5:00 PM) - Must be available on these days

• PRN / as-needed based on clinic coverage
• Schedule may be provided anywhere from same-day to a few weeks in advance
• Hours are not guaranteed, but will cross train in Front Desk duties to help with additional coverage

• This is a float role supporting providers across 20+ clinic locations throughout the Tampa Bay area (Clearwater, Largo, St. Petersburg, Tampa, and surrounding areas).

• Must be comfortable traveling between clinic locations as scheduled

Pay range: $23-24/hour

Medical Assistant experience in any specialty is welcome; dermatology experience is a plus but not required. This is a great opportunity for pre-med, pre-PA, or post-bacc students in a gap year seeking hands-on clinical experience; however, candidates should be available to consistently work the above schedule.

What you'll be doing: 

• Room patients, confirm information, and collect vitals
• Support providers during exams and dermatologic procedures
• Prepare instruments, trays, and treatment rooms for clinic use
• Handle specimens and ensure proper labeling and routing
• Document patient interactions, instructions, and updates in EMR
• Answer patient questions and assist with follow-up needs
• Maintain cleanliness, sterilization, and organization of clinical areas
• Monitor and restock supplies, removing expired materials as needed
• Assist with daily clinic flow and adapt to different provider preferences across locations

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Prior clinical experience in a patient care setting (Medical Assistant, CNA, or similar) highly preferred
• Completion of a Medical Assistant or related healthcare program preferred
• Candidates with a pre-med or pre-PA background are encouraged to apply
• Dermatology experience is a plus, but not required

Physical Requirements: 

• Standing and walking for extended periods of time
• Frequent bending, reaching, and use of hands for clinical tasks
• Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds
• Exposure to a clinical environment, including sharps and medical supplies
