We're hiring a full-time Medical Assistant to support our Marietta, GA clinic at North Atlanta Dermatology. In this role, you’ll work hands-on supporting our providers with patient intake, procedures, and patient education. Schedule:

Monday-Thursday | 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM (1-hour lunch)

Friday | 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM; Fridays will take place in our Cumming office

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Room patients, obtain vitals, document medical history, chief complaints, and patient intake information.
  • Coordinate patient flow to support an efficient outpatient dermatology clinic environment.
  • Prepare procedure trays, instruments, and equipment for medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology procedures.
  • Assist Physicians, Physician Assistants, and Nurse Practitioners with in-office dermatology procedures, including biopsies, excisions, and other treatments.
  • Perform phlebotomy / blood draws as needed.
  • Collect, label, prepare, and route pathology and laboratory specimens according to physician orders and insurance requirements.
  • Answer patient questions in person and by phone, escalating clinical concerns appropriately.
  • Review and address clinical task lists, EMR messages, nurse line messages, phone messages, faxes, and interdepartmental communications in a timely manner.
  • Accurately document patient encounters and scribe provider notes in the EMR system.
  • Assist with administration of local anesthetic injections as directed.
  • Clean, calibrate, sterilize, and maintain medical equipment and instruments according to infection control standards.
  • Monitor medication and medical supply inventory, remove expired items, and maintain accurate records.
  • Order, receive, sort, and restock clinical supplies to ensure exam rooms and supply areas remain fully stocked.
  • Follow OSHA, HIPAA, infection control, and safety protocols at all times.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

Qualifications

 

  • Able to triage patient concerns. 
  • Be familiar with and compliant OSHA/HIPAA, infection control & Blood Borne Pathogen Standards. 
  • Experience measuring vital signs and preparing patients for appointments. 
  • Experience administering injections. 
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, CPT and ICD-10 codes. 
  • Knowledge of office financial policies. 
  • Basic computer skills and experience in EMR utilization. 
  • Able to operate standard office equipment (i.e. computer, fax, copier, scanner, etc) 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Fluent in English 
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment. 
  • Ability to work in an effective, cooperative, and courteous manner with staff, patients, and visitors. 
  • Must be able to travel to satellite offices as needed 
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize appropriately, and work well both individually and as part of a team 
  • Ability to read, understand and follow oral and written instruction.   
  • Ability to spell, sort and file materials correctly alphabetically or numerically.   

Licensure/Certifications/Education

Education and Experience:

  • High School Graduate or GED required.
  • Completion of a Medical Assistant Program (CMA), Certified Nursing Assistant program (CNA) or completion of a bachelor’s degree program in the pre-med or pre-physician assistant (Pre-PA) track preferred.
  • 1-2 years of recent experience as a Medical Assistant, Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), or other clinical patient care experience preferred.
  • Previous experience in Dermatology is preferred.

Physical Requirements: 

 

  • Standing and walking for extended periods of time 
  • Moderate amount of talking, bending, twisting, reaching, and balancing. 
  • Use of hands and fingers. 
  • Talking and listening in person and on the telephone. 
  • Handling of materials such as paper, supplies, etc. 
  • Lifting and carrying up to 30 pounds. 
  • Risk of exposure to infectious organisms and the possibility of injury due to chemicals and sharp objects.
