Overview

We're hiring a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join our outpatient dermatology clinic in LaGrange, GA. The Medical Assistant will assist Physicians and other Providers by preparing procedure trays, ensuring adequate supplies for the department and assisting with patient care. 

 

  • Schedule: Monday - Thursday (7:45 AM - 5:00 PM); occasional Friday (8:00 AM - 1:00 PM)
  • Travel to Newnan office 1-2 days per week (mileage reimbursement provided)

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Room patients efficiently and perform comprehensive patient intake, including documenting medical history, chief complaint, allergies, and medications in the EMR.
  • Obtain, record, and monitor vital signs, ensuring accurate clinical documentation.
  • Manage patient flow throughout the clinic to maintain an efficient provider schedule and positive patient experience.
  • Prepare procedure rooms, surgical trays, instruments, and equipment for dermatologic procedures according to provider instructions.
  • Assist dermatologists and advanced practice providers with in-office dermatology procedures, including biopsies, excisions, cyst removals, cryotherapy, injections, and other clinical treatments.
  • Prepare, label, and route pathology and laboratory specimens accurately according to patient insurance requirements and laboratory protocols.
  • Accurately scribe provider notes and document patient encounters in the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
  • Assist with the administration of local anesthetics under provider direction.
  • Respond to patient questions in person and by phone, providing clinical support and follow-up as directed.
  • Review, prioritize, and address clinical task lists, nurse line messages, patient callbacks, faxes, and interdepartmental communications in a timely manner.
  • Clean, sterilize, calibrate, maintain, and inventory medical instruments and clinical equipment according to infection control standards and maintenance schedules.
  • Monitor medication inventory, remove expired medications/supplies, and maintain accurate inventory records.
  • Maintain exam rooms, supply rooms, and clinical workspaces to ensure cleanliness, organization, infection control compliance, and adequate stock levels.
  • Order, receive, sort, restock, and manage inventory for medical and clinical supplies.
  • Maintain strict HIPAA compliance and uphold patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Support additional clinical and administrative duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience as a Medical Assistant, Clinical Assistant, Dermatology Medical Assistant, or in a similar healthcare role (required).
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) is required
  • Experience obtaining and documenting vital signs, preparing patients for appointments, and assisting with direct patient care.
  • Ability to triage patient concerns and appropriately escalate clinical issues to providers.
  • Experience administering injections preferred.
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology, CPT, and ICD-10 coding.
  • Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems and basic computer proficiency.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, HIPAA, infection control, and Bloodborne Pathogen standards.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment while maintaining accuracy and professionalism.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage workflow efficiently.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions with strong attention to detail.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to satellite office as needed.
  • Fluency in English required.

Licensure/Certifications/Education

Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Completion of a Medical Assistant program, Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program, or a bachelor’s degree in a pre-med, pre-physician assistant, or other healthcare-related field (required)
  • 1-2 years of recent clinical patient care experience as a Medical Assistant, CNA, or in a similar hands-on healthcare role preferred.
  • Previous dermatology experience is strongly preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday.
  • Frequent bending, twisting, reaching, balancing, and other physical movements associated with a clinical environment.
  • Frequent use of hands and fingers for clinical tasks, documentation, and equipment handling.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person and by telephone.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds.
  • Ability to handle medical supplies, instruments, equipment, and office materials.
  • Exposure to infectious organisms, bodily fluids, sharp instruments, and medical cleaning chemicals consistent with a clinical setting.
