Overview

We’re hiring a Front Desk Receptionist to join our outpatient dermatology practice in Glen Burnie, MD. This role plays an important part in creating a positive patient experience while supporting the day-to-day administrative operations of the office, including patient check-in and check-out, scheduling, payments, insurance information, and maintaining accurate patient records.

 

Full time. Start time and end time vary based on day of the week. Must be able to start as early as 7am. 

 

Pay range: $18-21/hr, depending upon experience

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Greet patients in a pleasant and professional manner.
  • Screen calls, schedule appointments, and coordinate referrals.
  • Take accurate and concise phone messages.
  • Enter complete patient demographics when scheduling appointments.
  • Review patient charts to ensure required information and signatures are complete.
  • Check patients in and out.
  • Monitor patients in the reception area and communicate with them as needed.
  • Collect patient payments.
  • Update product inventory and fulfill inventory orders.
  • Run end-of-day reports and balance payment totals when assigned closing duties.
  • Distribute incoming reports and correspondence to patient charts.
  • Ensure phone messages, faxes, and interdepartmental communications are addressed in a timely manner.
  • Treat patients with dignity, empathy, and professionalism.
  • Assist other staff as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA standards.
  • Experience using electronic medical records (EMR/EHR) preferred.
  • Comfortable using multi-line phone systems and standard office equipment.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to travel to and provide coverage at nearby practice locations as needed.

Licensure/Certifications/Education

Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a customer-facing or customer service role required.
  • 1-3 years of recent experience as a Medical Receptionist in a clinical or surgical setting preferred.
  • Previous dermatology experience preferred.

Physical Requirements: 

  • Sitting, some standing, stooping and reaching.   
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard.   
  • Correctable vision to 20/20 and hearing within a normal range for telephone contacts.   
  • Lifting and carrying up to 30 pounds.
